How to Become a More Valuable Wife
It’s that time of year again and with Thanksgiving just around the corner, this is the perfect time to take inventory of our lives and the perfect time to focus on the amazing and life changing effects of thankfulness, appreciation and gratitude.
Did you know that thankfulness has a magnetic quality about it?
Think about it. Who would you rather spend an afternoon with...someone who complained about their family and life or someone who expressed thankfulness for the things and people in their lives?
Complaining is the product of unthankfulness.
The word 'appreciation' means to be thankful and express admiration.
Another definition for it is "to grow or appreciate in value."
As you appreciate life, you become more valuable - both to yourself and others.
Do you want to "appreciate" and increase in value in the eyes of your husband? You can-through thankfulness.
You might try to tell me that you don't have much to be thankful for with your husband, but I would say- search your heart and ask the Lord to show you all that He's blessed you with.
So tell him, write him, drop him an email and let him know what you are sincerly thankful for about him. It will do your heart (and his) good.
I'm praying for our marriages.

I am adding my prayers to yours. Declaring all of our marriages strong in Jesus name! Thanks so much
This is a great post. One way that I have been practicing thankfulness and putting on a thankful attitude is to sing praises to the Lord as I do 'mundane' daily chores like laundry etc.
Psalms 30:4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
Beautiful post! It's amazing how the simple act of saying Thank you to my husband makes all the difference in the world.
I neede to hear this today. I think I'll drop my husband a thankful email today. Thanks. Also thanks for the birthday wishes. Happy Thanksgiving!
What a wonderful post! It is amazing what a simple thank you can do. Next time I start to complain (which I am sure I will) :) I will remember that complaining is the product of unthankfulness.
Such wise words! I find that when I'm really aggrivated with someone (especially my husband or children), if I'll start to list things I'm thankful for about them, my heart soon changes toward them. Then, I can more wisely pray about the changes I see that need to be made in them, and am more open to the changes God needs to make in me. :-)
Yes I do need to tell him thank you more often great reminder today.
I read this summer to write down ten things you are thankful for about your husband and talk to God about it. Was it here or somewhere else? Anyhow, I wrote my list on the back (blank) page of my Bible and refer to it often.
Thanks for the reminder! I need to stop complaining.
My hubby and I just got back a couple weekends ago from a marriage encounter. We have a strong marriage, almost 20 years, but we all need that get away and renew, strengthen time! My hubby is so wonderful about showing such appreciation for me, but I am not as great at it. Hate to say that! I mean I do, but I could do so much more and have been being more mindful of doing so. Nancy Leigh DeMoss has great 30 day challenges for free at Revive Our Hearts online. Great ones for marriages. I have done 2 of them and love it. Thanks for this post, it was a'reminder' for me today. Its effort, for great marriages, we have to put in the effort. Not take for granted.
What a reality check, Sue.
Lately, I've been complaining about every little thing. The truth is that I have forgotten how much my hubby contributes to both our marriage and our family.
Thanks for this reminder.
I sure do appreciate all your honesty. :)
I needed this today...I've been a little grumpy with my husband the past few days. I lost my job a month ago and we are both on edge about the incoming bills. I need to let him know that I appreciate his support during this tough time. Thanks!
Thanks for this post...a really good reminder of just how basic the words 'thank you' are! It doesn't get much better than a simple word of thanks when you feel that your efforts often go unnoticed.
BTW...hope you don't mind, but I tagged you in my blog. Would really like to know more about you!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
A thank full heart is a happy heart. Thank you for your post today too.
yes indeed... appreciating the man we are with will do our relationship well. i always tell my husband that no one can love me more than he does and for that I am grateful =)

great insight and great idea, sue! i will email my man right now! he really is an incredible blessing to me and our boys! hope you and yours have a blessed thanksgiving, friend!
Great words of wisdom. As husbands and wives, we have to support and encourage each other. It's so important to give that example to our children. It's amazing how much nicer things are at home when we decide to uplift and praise our men!
