Insecurity and My Marriage

Originally posted April 2009

So ladies, who fills your cup?
Who or what dictates what kind of day you are going to have?

I spent a few years allowing the emotions of my day to be hinged on how my husband talked to me and treated me.
If I felt loved and accepted by him, it was a good day.
But if I felt I had let him down or he was angry or disappointed with me about something, it was a bad day.

I lived my life through his eyes. My security came from him alone.

I struggled with this until I learned that my esteem and security were supposed to come from my God. In fact, the way that I was living was putting a huge strain on my husband and our relationship.

I put him in a position that God never intended him to be...my all in all, my everything.

I found out that God wanted to be My Everything, and in fact it was wrong to put any person in that position in my life.

I let him and others dictate the mood and atmosphere of my life and home.
One negative look or comment could send my emotions spiraling down.

Thankfully, I was in a Bible study that set me on the right track. God's Word taught me that my joy needed to come from my relationship with Him and that nothing and no one could take THAT joy away.

I learned to walk close to God and let His Word be my barometer.

1 John 3:1
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!
NIV

I was God's child, His precious daughter. He loved me enough to send His Son to die for me. The more I learned about the Lord, the more I loved Him and understood His love for me.

This very insecure woman found security in God her Father. He became my All in All...and continues to make that so real to me everyday.

However, I still have days when I need to remind myself that my joy comes from the Lord and nothing or no one can take that away. I choose to walk this life...it won't happen by accident.

I need to fill my cup with the Lord and His goodness so that I am not draining my husband and friends...wanting them to fill me. Blaming them for my bad days.

Lord, help us to find our joy and security in You and You alone. The other relationships in our life are so meaningful and rewarding, but they are not what sustains us, that is reserved for You.
Help us to run to you first Lord, fill us, and let us pour Your love into our families as it overflows from out hearts.

No Wonder She Risked Her Life

Taken from my recent study "Becoming A Beautiful Woman of God"

Matt. 9:20-22
And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment.
For she said to herself, "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well." But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said,
"Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.
NKJV

Do you know what was so significant about her faith??

The English word "hem" is a translation of a Greek word meaning a
tassel of twisted wool. The woman was, in fact, reaching for the tassels on Jesus prayer shawl.

In Hebrew, these tassels, which are attached to the corners of the prayer shawl, are called tzitzit.

Numbers 15:38
Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners.
NKJV

The word border or corner can be translated: "wings"

During the first century there were several traditions associated with the tzitzit concerning Messiah. One was that these knotted fringes possessed healing powers. This tradition has its roots in the prophecy of Malachi 4:2.

Mal 4:2-3
(The Lord said) "But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. NLT

God’s Word says that the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in His wings…or corners (tassels).

Certainly the woman with the issue of blood knew of these traditions, which would explain why she sought to touch the corner (the wings) of Jesus' prayer garment.

With this understanding in mind, an ancient Jew under the prayer shawl could be said to be dwelling in the secret place of the Most High and under His wings (Ps.91:1-4).

When one realized the significance of this concept to the first-century -Hebraic mind, it becomes clear why this woman was instantly healed.

She was expressing her faith in Jesus as the Son of Righteousness with healing in His wings and declaring her faith in God's prophetic Word.

No wonder this women was willing to risk her life (a woman with an issue of blood could be stoned for being in public-she would have been considered unclean) and bloody her knees to get to Him!

She knew~ He’s the One!

She recognized Him because of what she had heard about Him! She knew that He was the One that would have healing in His wings.

Who do you recognize Him to be???

Does Your Husband Wish He Lived in the Desert?

Photobucket

Hello Ladies,

It’s another "Two shall become One~Tuesday" and I need you to do something for me.

Please stand and recite these words: (ready, are you standing? Hold up your right hand)
“I love Sue, I know Sue loves me too and I will not become offended with her, I understand that she is a nice person just trying to help.”

Ok, you can sit.

Here’s our verse for today:

Proverbs 21:19 It is better to live alone in the desert than with a crabby, complaining wife. NLT

Stop being sooo crabby! (She said with her finger pointing in the mirror.)

I don’t even think I need to elaborate on this one, it pretty much spells it all out for ya.

Just for giggles let me add the Amplified version:

Proverbs 21:19 It is better to dwell in a desert land than with a contentious woman and with vexation. AMP
The word “vexation” seemed a bit intimidating so I looked it up, here’s what I found.

Do I need to make you stand up again?

Vexation=

1. annoyance, chafe, vexation
(anger produced by some annoying irritation)

2. irritation, annoyance, vexation, botheration
(the psychological state of being irritated or annoyed)

3. concern, worry, headache
(something or someone that causes anxiety; a source of unhappiness; "New York traffic is a constant concern"; "it's a major worry")

4. annoyance, annoying, irritation, vexation
(the act of troubling or annoying someone)

I’m sure none of you fall into that description so let’s just agree to forward this to the crabbiest woman we know and let her deal with it.

I’m praying for our marriages,
Sue

This Keeps Me Dancing

I just love this! It puts all things into perspective.

Not sure what you're walking through right now but if you're like me you love anything that encourages you to trust Him more.

This is bits and pieces of Hebrews 11 from the Message Bible. When you have time read the whole chapter.

This keeps me dancing...

Hebrews 11
3 By faith, we see the world called into existence by God's word, what we see created by what we don't see.

4 By an act of faith, Abel brought a better sacrifice to God than Cain.

5 By an act of faith, Enoch skipped death completely.

7 By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land.

8 By an act of faith, Abraham said yes to God's call to travel to an unknown place that would become his home.

11 By faith, barren Sarah was able to become pregnant, old woman as she was at the time, because she believed the One who made a promise would do what he said.

13-15 Each one of these people of faith died not yet having in hand what was promised, but still believing.

How did they do it?

They saw it way off in the distance, waved their greeting, and accepted the fact that they were transients in this world.

People who live this way make it plain that they are looking for their true home.

If they were homesick for the old country, they could have gone back any time they wanted. But they were after a far better country than that—heaven country.

You can see why God is so proud of them, and has a City waiting for them.
