The Power of Love

1 John 2:15-17
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father but from the world.
17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.
NIV

Love should be reserved for people, not stuff.

1 John 4:7-8
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
NIV

Great post.

It's so easy to get caught up in the worldly pleasures available to us today. But as I think of God's love and what Jesus did for me, how can I not love Him back? This life is not my home so it's good to be reminded not to love the things we have here. Instead, it is better to focus on loving people and cultivating relationships. I pray that the Lord would help me to love others through His eyes.
