The Furious Storm

Good Monday morning!

I was reading this story today.

Matt 8:23-26
Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.
25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"
26 He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?"

Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
NIV

1. Without warning: sometimes the storms come from seemingly no where- and they are furious. To the point we feel they will over take us.

2. Jesus is not moved by the storms...we feel that we have to "let Him know" of the grave danger at hand.

3. His response to our fear is, why are you scared? Don't you believe me?

4. Instead of ignoring our pleas for help or condemning our lack of faith, He speaks and brings peace on our behalf.

Not all storms are calmed immediately. Sometimes He calms the storm, and sometimes He calms His child in the storm.

But His response is always...BELIEVE ME.

How thankful I am that He is WITH us in the storms of life!

As Psalm 46 1-3 says, "God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains be shaken into the midst of the seas, Though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling and tumult. Selah!"

Easier said than done - but so thankful God is faithful to help us in this area! Thanks for the encouragement today!!!

That is one of my favorite verses to pull out and meditate on!

It is easier said than done, but oh the blessing of peace that comes when we do! His faithfulness is so amazing, especially in light of my short comings.

Thanks for the input I love it!

Sue, this was great! The Lord wants us to trust Him no matter the circmstance. Storms come and storms go, but the Lord Jesus is always faithful! His loving comforting hand is always reaching out to us if we will place our hand in His and be a trusting child. (I talking to myself, also :)

amen! so why do we, like the disciples, fear and worry?? we gotta KNOW our God is big enough...more than enough! Why is that always easier to believe when all is calm??

Thanks for this reminder today, Sue!

Great reminder..I have found that He usually calms me rather than the storm. Also, if I cease striving and am still and rest in the fact that He is God..I handle things so much better, because of Him. Thanks for your great heart and passion for Him. Blessings
