Wives

Just a reminder of the reasons God brought us into our husbands life.

Prov 31:12
12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
NIV

Prov 12:4
4 A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.
NIV

Prov 18:22
22 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.

NIV

1 Peter 3:1
1 Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that,
if any of them do not believe the word,
they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives
NIV

Let's be a GOOD thing to our husbands!!

Our hope is in Him,
Sue

EDITED to ADD:
I searched and searched but couldn't find anywhere that said our husband would fill us with joy or make all our dreams come true....but there was this other man...Jesus

Ps 16:11
11 You have made known to me the path of life;
You will fill me with joy in Your presence,
with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.
NIV

Enjoy your marriage but find hope, purpose, joy and completeness in HIM!

These are great verses to remember thoughout the day while we are doing laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc...

Because I think doing all of this cheerfully makes us better wives with happier husbands. It's hard though...

Wonderful verses! Remembering Gods promises to us is such a huge encouragement when life becomes difficult. Being a submissive wife leads to more happiness than I can even mention. Today is my fifteenth anniversary with my husband. God is so good!

1 Peter 3:1 was the very first verse I ever received a direct answer from God about. I had just accepted Jesus as my Savior and was eager to see my husband come to Him as well. But I just did not know how to share Him; how to be an effective witness for Him.

So, I did all the wrong things. I badgered him about going to church with me. I talked incessently about my new walk with Christ. I got angry when he showed little (to zero) interest. And I eventually even picked an all out fight with him over it. Like I said, ALL the wrong things.

After the fight, I prayed and asked God to show me how to effectively share my faith with my husband, that he too might come to embrace Jesus. That night in my devotional bible, I turned to the required scripture reading. 1 Peter 3:1. I could NOT believe what I was reading. God directly, promptly and clearly answered my prayer. And I began to live out my faith in front of my spouse without feeling the need to save him myself. And yes, he did come to Christ about 2 years later. And he continues to grow in his faith today, many years beyond.
Sorry so long, Sue. Just couldn't resist sharing.
Blessings,
~Toni~

Kristen,
Happy 15th Anniversary!! That is wonderful!!!

Toni,
Thanks for sharing. I can remember when God brought me to that verse too and since then I have used it over and over when counseling. It is so powerful!
I think that when we really come to understand and trust the Lord, we will take Him at His word in this area.
I appreciate the input!

What a wonderful reminder that they are not the man to be our all in all...Jesus is THE only man who can give us total security and give us joy. He does give our husbands to us but you said it right....Jesus is to THE man who does it all for us. We met forty years ago today and will be married thirty nine years in June and I wouldn't trade one day of doing for him, I'd do it all over again....

Well said Sue...thanks for the reminder that fairy tale endings are only in the movies.

As ever Sue, you touch on the key issues in love and marriage. I think that's something that my hubs and I still struggle with from time to time - meeting each other's needs in total. No person can do that bar Jesus Christ but we still try to do it. It's crazy.

I love the end of this post- Jesus bringing us the joy, fulfilling our needs...where our complete joy is, and us being able to take our hubbys off a pedestal they're not supposed to be on, just loving them for them, and together being able to look to HIM...good stuff!
