Victoria Beckham

(Got your attention on that title didn't I!)

I must confess.
Lauren was sick this week and while I was rocking her those long hours, I mindlessly watched the dumbest show that I’ve seen in a long time.
It was the one about Victoria Beckham coming to America.
To say the least, I was unimpressed.

Ok, I’ll be nice.

As the show follows her very self-centered life of house hunting and how to look pouty for the paparazzi, I picked up on one of her favorite sayings,

“MAJOR”…which she pronounces “may-juh”.

She uses it to describe most everything and even stated it by itself sometimes.

I kept thinking about that word and how it makes me think about the Lord. (That may seem like a stretch to some of you- but it's how my mind works!)

Here’s what the dictionary says:
Major (adjective):
greater in dignity, rank, importance, or interest

Major (noun):
one that is superior in rank, importance, size, or performance

I think I know a God like that.
It’s my God, He’s MAJOR!

Ps 7:17
17 I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness
and will sing praise to the name of the
LORD Most High.
NIV

Ps 18:13
13 The LORD thundered from heaven;
the voice of the Most High resounded.
NIV

Ps 47:2
2 How awesome is the LORD Most High,
the great King over all the earth!
NIV

Rev 4:11
11 "You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being."
NIV

Rev 15:4
4 Who will not fear you, O Lord,
and bring glory to your name?
For you alone are holy.
All nations will come
and worship before you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed."
NIV

The show left me quite unimpressed with VB, and sad for her really. I pray that she would find Him and His love because she seems to live quite an empty existence.

I hope that she and all of us consider what/who really is major.

I've never heard of this show...but then again I rarely watch TV.

Yes He is MAJOR. God deserves our attention, respect and obedience.

You have a wonderful and beautiful gift of FINDING GOD in everyday living. Thank you. I need to pray that my mind will do that.

So proud of you for bringing the whole Victoria Beckham "thing" around to help us focus on our MAJOR Daddy.

I feel the same way you do about the Beckhams -- sad that they don't know the truth.

Thanks for inspiring us, as usual : )

Amen. As Becky B said, it applies to most of Hollywood.

Should I know who this Victoria is?...because I have never heard of her and am probably making a fool of myself for even saying that. Oh, well. Could inform me, please? ; )

Don't feel bad Panda Mom- she's no one that we really need to know!
She is formerly Posh Spice of the Spice Girls band and she is the present wife of soccer player David Beckham.

I think their real claim to fame is that they are friends with Tom Cruise and his wife!

Just a bunch of Hollywood hoopla if you ask me!

ROFLOL! You made me laugh soooo hard with this post. I kept picturing Ms. Beckham with her accent and her "post for the cameras" expression, saying this word so absently. So many lost souls (sigh).

But oh, the power in that word as it relates to our Savior. And maybe someday Ms. Beckham might, just might, allow Him to do a "majuh" work in her heart.
Blessings,

Sue,

I've been on blog break, but I'm having a hoot of time catching up on what God has been speaking to my friends of late! This is just precious and I now have a new word, too, to describe my God!!!

He's MAJOR to me, too!!!

All this and Jesus, too!

I really like the way you brought that point across. You did a fabulous job.

It also made me think of how inadequately we use the English language. How often do we say "OH, I LOVE your dress..."

Thank you so much for bringing that topic around. I'll be thinking of it for a while.

May-juh!!! Not sure who this lady is, never heard of her, but there are so many wandering our world, just like her. Perhaps she'll see your blog and come to realize just how empty she is without Him!!!

What a lovely and refreshing blog you have! Thanks for coming to visit mine so that I could find you. :) We seem to have a fair bit in common which is good, too.

All UK and even the Aussies pronounce major as may-juh - we're not very clear on the "r" sounds.

I enjoyed reading your thoughts. Very good!

ROFLOL! Sue, Sue, Sue. You just had to go and stir my curiosity, didn't you. I watched a few minutes of one episode on You Tube (hoping to hear VB say, "May-juh"). She got pulled over by a policeman for speeding and had to step out of her car. This quote from her about the incident TOTALLY cracked me up.

"I was completely shocked,...and,...devastated because,....I was wearing flat shoes."

Oh my!
Blessings,
~Toni~
