Free from our suffering!

Mark 5:24-29
A large crowd followed and pressed around Him.
25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years.
26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.
27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind Him in the crowd and touched His cloak,
28 because she thought, "If I just touch His clothes, I will be healed."
29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that
she was freed from her suffering.
NIV

I love this story!

Have you ever been in a situation where the only hope was the Lord?
No earthly answer can be found, it's going to have to be a "God thing."

It is going to take radical faith to believe that He can get you out of "this one."

That faith pleases our Lord.
When every other option is depleted, God loves to pour Himself out on us and bring the healing and deliverance we need.
That's when HE receives the most glory!

She knew that if she could just touch Him, she would be healed.
Sounds like:
Rom 4: 21
being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised.
NIV

God wants us all to look to Him in the face of impossibilities.
When it all seems dead...watch Him breath life!

Sometimes, GOD will close the door to all human reasoning, bypassing all means of rational deliverance.

Not only does God WANT us to believe Him, He expects us to!

Believe Him, trust Him...crawl through the crowd til your knees are bloody with faith!

Lord, we bring you our impossible situations. Because we know that with You, all things are possible!

That is so true that God does want us to have faith because without faith, it is impossible to please God.

I have to be flat-out honest here! I really don't like being in the place where if God doesn't show up, I am going to be 'dead meat'. I have been there many times and I will have to say that it scares the bajeebes out of me. I will say this! God shows up! You never know what he will be driving, but he shows up! The one good benefit of trials is that they increase our faith. . . but I still don't like them.

Cher,
I'm with you. I love the other side of the trial when you can look back and see His hand at work.

I agree. We need to have the faith that God will do the impossible. However, we have to be ready for the times when God chooses not to do the impossible the way we want.
When we lost our daughter almost a year ago, I prayed with every ounce in me that God would save her. I also had no doubt that he would save her. For some reason, he chose not to save her. At first, I felt very let down. I had faith larger than a mustard seed, and yet my mountain did not budge!
I worry when people take this promise and think that if they have enough faith, God will make everything O.K. We tend to turn this into "God will make everything O.K. where we will be happy with it." That is not always the case, but we still have to keep our faith in God.
I feel like I am rambling, but I just feel that your faith will be rocked to the core if you are not ready for the possibility that God will say no to your cries.
I do want to say that he did come through for us with amazing support from friends, family, and our church. He has also worked in amazing ways through this experience to help me grow.

Her faith was amazing. It always amazes me when Gog does exactly what He said He will do. Shouldn't be surprized, but I often am. May we all live out our faith as that NT woman did.

Tiffany,
You bring up an excellent point.

I completely agree with you and didn't think to give that disclaimer because, though I used to think that God would only answer with YES, I have learned through pain and trials that my faith is in -the fact that- He is faithful no matter what answer I get.

In fact, I am much more prone to pray that the Lord's will would be done than that my desire would come to pass.

I have seen Him move mountains and have it be a glorious joyful thing and I've also seen Him be faithful to bring me through hard times and strengthen and encourage me in ways I never dreamed possible, even though my specific prayers were not answered.

My emphasis (as I believe yours is) is that we keep praying to Him in faith because He has what we ultimately NEED and what is best for us.

I have faith in my God, not faith in my faith. And I'm glad you reminded me to clarify that.

Tiffany, I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing with us.
Hugs,
Sue

So great. When we are down to nothing but God, then it is obvious that He alone will get the glory!

And Tiffany touched on something so important and you responded so beautifully. Our faith is in God. Not in our faith. Not even in what He does, but in Who He is.

One of my absolute favourite stories too. I can only imagine that woman's elation. And thankfulness!

My heart goes out to Tiffany and her husband. The loss of a child is the unthinkable. It happened to my sister too. God never promises us a life without pain. He does promise us that HE will never leave us.

It is so amazing to see that her faith was as great as it was, and yet so many times ours is not. Thank you so much Sue for gently reminding us to live with full abandon in our faith.

Love ya girl!

Melissa

With this kind of faith and God's kind of power, we should never lose hope...even at the 11th hour.

Amen.... AMEN!!!

When my daughter was in the hospital after a severe burn injury, I remember someone telling me that they were praying for her and telling God they would accept nothing less than 100% healing, with no scarring. I thought, "How presumptuous!" It's not that I didn't believe He COULD heal her like that, but I didn't think it my place to make such demands. As I look back on it, I'm actually grateful for her scars. Because she bears them, she is given immeasurable opportunities to explain what happened to her and how the Lord DID heal her. Her scars are our Ebenezar (1 Samuel 7) of sorts. The Lord might not have healed her the way some may have liked, but He healed her in the way He knew best, and the way that would bring Himself the most glory. I praise Him for that.

At one point we weren't sure that she would be healed at all, but were in grave danger of losing her. I remember telling someone that I knew if He did, He would give the grace to sustain us. I firmly believe that He gives us grace as we need it... in all of His fullness.

I'm sorry for your loss, Tiffany. I can't imagine how difficult that must have been for you... only a fraction of it. I'm praising God today that your faith has remained solid, and that You have chosen to continue to abide in Him, in spite of receiving such a difficult answer. God is singing over you this very minute.

Heather

Heather,
Yours and your daughter's story is just amazing. I get emotional just thinking about it.

When my son Josh was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, there were well meaning people who said not to accept it. They told me to never say that he was diabetic.
That is pure foolishness to me. Instead we chose to thank the Lord for giving someone the intelligence to make insulin which saves his life everyday.

The joy comes on the other side of the suffering. I never like to be in the situation but God is so good in knowing what I need better than me.

This is one of my favorite passages of scripture. I can so relate to her desperation!
Sue, I love how the Lord is using you to minister to women across the internet. You are in my prayers this morning.
