Then He arose and rebuked the wind,
and said to the sea,
"Peace, be still!"
And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
NKJV
How powerful is the voice of our God? Oh how I love Him.
Do you long for peace? In your home, at work, in your family, in your church?
Does the thought of a great calm seem unreachable? It's not.
The Word of God holds many keys to peace...
Ps 34:14
Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
NIV
Ps 37:11
But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.
NIV
Ps 119:165
Great peace have they who love Your law
NIV
Prov 17:1
Better a dry crust with peace
and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.
NIV
Prov 29:17
17 Discipline your son,
and he will give you peace
NIV
Isa 26:33
You will keep in perfect peace
him whose mind is steadfast,
because he trusts in you.
NIV
And the most important thing I have learned lately
brings me back to the beginning...
Peace...BE STILL.

Sue

Thanks! We have had a rough two days, some days where peace has been missing. We have a hard decision to make, but God is reminding us to fix our eyes on Him and to trust in Him. I am so thankful for Him. So today, I need to be still and wait on Him. He can give us a peace that passes all understanding!
Hope you have a terrific weekend!
Love and Blessings,
Kimberly
I believe God's peace is always with us. It's when we're not mindful of it that we think we don't have it.
I have found that when I am STILL I can hear better.
Great reminder Sue!

I was just looking out at the snow in top of the neighbors roofs and I was thinking how peaceful it looks. Reminds me of when I was a child.:o)
Prov 17:1
Better a dry crust with peace
and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.
NIV
This seems like such oxy-moronic statement, how can peace abound when material things do not? I am learning that it is the circumstances of the heart that make the peace on not the physical surroundings. As Paul said, "I have learned in all things, to be content."
He is such a good example to follow, of someone who know what it is to have real peace despite the circumstances.
Thank you for this reminder today.
Thank you Sue for this post.
Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee. That scripture song is playing in my mind.
Awesome.
So true MaryLu!
I have a surprise treat for all of you next week! I am so excited to share something with you that the Lord has been blessing me with.

Confession on Peace
In the name of Jesus, l am troubling my trouble. l declare right now that l will see that l be not troubled. l will let not my heart be troubled. I will use the force of peace. I will have security in the midst of turmoil. I will pursue peace. I will live in peace. And the peace of God which passes all understanding will sustain me. The promoter and the author of peace will be with me.
l thank You, Lord, that because l have my mind stayed on the Word of God, l have the peace of God. In Jesus' name, l am going to hold on to that Word. And by holding on to the Word of God, l hold on to the peace of God.
No matter what trouble comes, peace will remain because my God has given me a covenant of peace. He has sworn by Himself. His Word ls my security, and in His Word l have peace. In Jesus' name. Amen - Creflo Dollar
Peace, even the word maks ones heart to become still to wait on what God has in store for us, HIS plan is way better than ours!!!

Thanks Sue! Oh the simple word of God! Only He does bring me peace...not as the world gives, sometimes I think I wish He did give it as the world gives but then when the storms a ragin' and He gives me peace I go, "Ah! Now that's PEACE!"
Thanks too, for your gracious comments on my blog.
Have a blessed weekend!

Great message. I have not felt peace in a long time. It's a hard place to be.
It just makes you want to go "AAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!", doesn't it? That state of "peace" is sometimes the BEST and yet the hardest time for me.

Melissa

Ahhh! Selah, indeed. This post was so beautiful, Sue. I just LOVE the contrast of power and simplicity in those 3 words. "Peace, be still." And your words. "Oh, how I love Him." Those words were sooo soothing to me.
Blessings,
~toni~
God's peace is coming back into my life. All you have to do is want it and it's there. No matter how far gone we feel, His peace is just a prayer away.
Ah, stillness. Probably the hardest thing in this fast world of ours to achieve and yet.....it is there if we look for it.
Yep, if we will wait and be still his peace will always come! Beautiful post.
I so need this reminder today... thank you!!!
The calming of the storm is my absolute favourite story in the whole Bible! It reminds me that when life's storms rage, even though we think God isn't there, he's always in the hold, asking 'Have you still no faith?'
