I Want to Talk About Me

Not really, but you keep bugging me about it! :-P

I have been sent several meme’s and always give empty promises to do them but never have. Although you must give me some credit for my 100th Post. I let you all ask me questions and you were ruthless! You asked, deep meaningful-thinking kind of questions.

Well, here’s some of the 411 on me….

1. Pets?
Yes, 1 dog (indoor) and 2 outdoor cats (I’m allergic).

2. Jobs besides being a stay at home Mom:
When I turned 16, I started working right away at Little Caesars so I could get some money for new clothes. I worked there for over 2 years and became an asst. manager.

Then I worked for my parents small Christian bookstore then I worked at a couple different health clubs teaching aerobics (it was the 80’s after all- leg warmers and all).

I worked at a bus company doing reception and office work.
(I got in trouble one day for abbreviating the word associate incorrectly.)

Then I worked at a Hallmark store in a mall until my son was born.
Since then I have not been paid for my work.

3. Favorite food:
Hands down, chips and salsa, I could live on them.
More of a salt person than a sweet, but have an undying love for milk chocolate.

4. Favorite drink:
Silly question.

5. Favorite TV shows:
Foxnews, anything- even the market reports and I'm very interested in politics, but I won't talk about it much here.
Although, let me add a disclaimer to this:
I have Foxnews on a lot, but I don’t SIT and watch it often. It is mostly background noise as I am working around the house or playing with Lauren.

The Apprentice- LOVE it! My affection is for “people watching” and insight into team dynamics- not for “The Donald”- but he’s funny too!

And Reba, I love reruns of her show. Oh that Van!

Yes, I’m a complex individual.

6. My middle name is Kay.

7. Siblings? One brother 2 years younger than I.

8. Perfume: J'adour
Lotion: Vanilla whatever

9. A pet peeve:
Radio jockeys that think I want to listen to them talk, play the music please!

10. I drive a gas-guzzling, 3 miles per gallon-diesel Excursion (the color’s not even green sorry!)

11. Favorite flower
Hydrangea

12. I met my husband at the car accident that killed his grandfather.

13. I talk back to my TV on a regular basis.
The TV never answers. But my kids tell me to stop.

14. I get horrible headaches if I eat/drink anything with artificial sweeteners.

15. My 17 year old son has Type 1 diabetes, he was diagnosed at 13 years of age when my husband happened to be in Israel. No fun! Spent almost a week in ICU with him and couldn’t talk to Mark until we were about to go home. Definitely one of the scariest times of my life. I remember calling my girl friend and trying to tell her as I was rushing him to the hospital and she just kept saying…"hunny I can’t understand you" as I bawled my eyes out.

16. I graduated from a Catholic High School.

17. I grew up in the city and we moved out to the country 9 years ago and I would never go back! I love to visit, but would not want to live there again.

18. I love Chicago though! Been there shopping several times and would love to go to New York City shopping!

19. Favorite restaurants:
A little hole in the wall Mexican place and a very fancy restaurant in Nashville that I can’t remember the name of!

20. Oh yeah, I sing too. I have done lots of weddings and led worship.

That’s all I can think of right now!
There you have it, me in a big nutshell.

Hope that satisfies enquiring minds, sorry I never did the meme's you sent me, hope this makes up for it and you still love me!

Edited to add: Susan reminded me...I was going to ask any of you to throw in your answers to these things too!!!!

Hugs,
Sue

I love reading little facts about people. It is just fun.

Okay, the one about how you met your husband? That might need a little elaboration or do I not know that because I'm newer to your blog?

Alana,
Maybe that WAS a little blunt, sorry. No, I've never talked about it before.

We had worked next door to each other and as I was leaving one day I heard a car accident at the light out front. I ran out to help (it was a really bad intersection and accidents were common) and as I was comforting his Grandma I realized that the "guy from next door" knew these people and later found out (when I heard that his Grandpa had past away) that it was Mark's grandparents.

That was interesting. My daughter also has type 1 diabetes. She was diagnosed at 19 years old and is now 21. It is a difficult thing, but she is doing well.

It's so much fun getting to know details from everyone's life. It just makes reading your blog that much more enjoyable.

BTW, I totally stole your imagechef.com idea from your sidebar. I hope when you see the version on my blog that you will see it as complete and total flattery, and not as theft! LOL!

Mari,
I'm glad your daughter is doing well. My son is on the pump and I'm very excited about the new one coming out that also tests their sugar levels. That will help tremendously since he does not like to test.

Because I'm on a "it's all about me" kick today...My Girl's middle name is Kaye. After The Man's mom whose first name is Kaye.

Mine is Anne. Can it be any more boring than that? lol.

YEAH!!!! Go Sue! I am SO proud of you for doing a "personal" stuff post! It makes it so much easier to get to know you as a real person, not the patty perfect pastor's wife that I know you to be! Ha!!! (I never really fit into the Patty Perfect Pastor's wife mode...just the pastors wife...go figure).

LOVE IT!

Thanks for your prayers, your friendship, and the journey...

Mob,
I am sorry to lead you into temptation but I have to admit it- those look fabulous don't they?? I was just thinking about how Lauren and I could go grab some take out as hubby and the other kids are at a big race tonight!

Mel,
I think our conversation the other day may have nudged me in this direction!
It's all your fault.
:)
Love you!

Very fun. I did know a few of the things about you...which was kinda wierd. I guess I knew your family which explains.

I know you are a wonderful person and married to a fantastic guy. Although we have not see you in years I think we would have a great night out and some awesome fellowship.

Love to you and Mark!

Oh how fun!!! Now I really feel like I know you better!
Let me tell you what my favorite food is.....drum roll please.....DILL PICKLES!!! Oh yeah! Love 'em!
As for favorite drink.... Diet Mt. Dew! I love to sing as well!!1 I used to sing in a small ensemble at our former church. Lots of harmony! I loved it and miss it! (After we changed churches I felt the Lord leading me into Student Ministry more ....especially since our daughter is now in the youth group.) But, if you were a mouse in the corner....you'd sure hear me singing here at home and in the car!!!

I will add your son to my prayer list and faithfullly lift him in prayer each day. Glad he's doing well!

Thanks for sharing all this good stuff about yourself!!

Have a wonderfully blessed weekend!

Love,
Denise C

Praise and Coffee said...

Ginger,
That would be so cool! We would love to see you guys. We might just bump into you at church one of these days. We have been talking about visiting.

Denise,
Dill pickles and diet Mt Dew, there must be a country song about that somewhere! :)
Thanks for praying for my son. And I sure would love to hear you sing!

Sharon,
1 hour eh? Hmmmm :)
Maybe someday when this three year old is removed from my leg!

Thanks for the insights. It's fun to put facts to a name - somehow makes you a little more real. hehe

I have a dog (indoor) and I'm allergic to cats too. Not fun. The allergic part.

I just did my 100th post too. hmmm.

I talk to the tv when a movie is - my kids hate it. I don't even notice it. I try to behave at the theatre.

I've to NY city once. Loved it. Want to go back. Think a girls trip would be fun.

I can't sing. :( Wish I could. Really want a beautiful voice when I get to heaven.

I copied you and made something at Imagechef too. Very cool site.

Rhonda

Nadine said...

What a neat sight you have. I grew up in NY city and left 15 years ago. I too wouldn't want to go back except for bagels, pizza and see family.

That was fun! We bloggers are basically nosy people and any eavesdropping with permission we can do--we will! :) Thanks for sharing!

Sue,
I would love to know the favorite Nashville restaurant of yours.
My husband & I are "Nashville Nuts". We go there 3-4 times a year and hope to retire there some day. (We currently live in IN).
If you ever happen to recall the name of the restaurant, please pass it on.
Thanks so much.
P.S. It was great to learn the trivia about you.
Thanks,again.

You have an awesome blog... great graphics... and great art...

Did you do it? if so, I'm totally jealous.. oh well, I'll have to ask for forgiveness on that one!!

I make my own Salsa.. I so love chips and salsa...I'm like you on that one...

now exactly what were you doing when you met your husband??

I will definitely have to come back...

You are a special person....

blessings

Very interesting.
I always feel funny about doing these types of post too.
And then if you get a few it seems you are always talking about yourself.
But I agree with one of the other commentors about the fact that it does make reading a blog more enjoyable. The words have more depth because we feel like we know you better.
I would love to go to New York to shop one day. The funny thing is that I am really not in to high end shopping or really shopping at all. :)
Maybe it would just be for the people watching. Something I love to do.
Thanks for the peek.

Fun to read about ya! I'm with ya on Fox News. I have it on a lot but don't always stay in the room unless it's a "hot" story.

Fun to know you can sing as well!

Praise and Coffee said...

Jackie,
I will talk to Mark- I can't remember.

Connie,
Thanks so much. Yes, I did do all the work. I only have half a head of hair left, but I did it!

Sharon,
I do WAY more window shopping than buying too!!

I love getting to know more about my fellow bloggers..hate to do the things myself. I love Hydranges too. I met my husband when my best girlfriend was trying to get him back as her boyfriend. Guess who he was really interested in... YIKES. She got over it and is happily married to a great guy.

Scarlet said...

You're like the girl next door, but not the girl next door in MIAMI. You are definitely a country girl with a lot of talent, wisdom and fun. There are so many facets to you. I loved your answers!

Flea said...

That more than makes up for any memes! I love your answers!

I prefer salty, too, though I'm more apt to pop a tub of corn on the stove.

And fake sweet triggers migraines for me too! But only if I have more than one.

I met my husband while tossing hay over fresh grass seed on a hillside.

And my blog is all about me all the time. Maybe I need to shift focus a little bit.

Marla said...

How fun to get to know you! Right there with ya on the chips on salsa and favorite drink questions! Wish I could sing, that must be so nice.

Love the new look of the blog, it's just gorgeous!

Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog. Nice list, but maybe you meant to say you haven't been paid IN MONEY for working since your kids were came along, because I assume you get paid in hugs, kisses and refrigerator decor?

Scarlet,
You crack me up!
"but not like the girl next door here..."

My husband teases me because when we lived in the city I would say that I could never live where there were no sidewalks, and now I'm sitting here on 15 acres!

Flea,
I love your blog, don't change a thing!!

feefifoto,
You're so right! The payment now is much greater!!

Congrats on your 100th post!

I just stumbled on your blog today and what a perfect first entry for me to read! I love all that great info and it makes me feel like I know you better than my next door neighbor (that isn't a bad thing!). Thanks for sharing!!! I think we have a few things in common.

I love chips and salsa, watch Fox News (and have talked about politics, but am trying to be very, very open minded, on my blog), have never missed The Apprentice (I even watched the first episode of Celebrity Apprentice), graduated from a Lutheran high school, lived in (for a total of six years) Chicago (LOVE and miss it), born and raised in Michigan, sister sings and is currently teaching and living in Nashville!

Yikes! Lengthy post but I couldn't help it . . .

Well, I guess I'll add in my two cents here :) Very nice to get to "know" you better. You are just one regular lady who is very special, does that make sense? I just love you in the Lord.

And I'm with you on the chips and fresh salsa, especially when the chips are warm, yum!
