Isaiah 9:6-7
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end.
NIV
Prince of Peace- the rule of Christ is the rule of Christ.
If I’m going to have peace, it is going to be because I am submitted to the authority of Christ in my life.
Peace is always associated with authority.
Peace is not about peaceful circumstances, it is about the applied authority of Christ.
Colossians 3:15
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.
NIV
He IS the KING, but do we bow to Him as OUR King?
Is He King over my life in my marriage?
Is He King over my life as I parent?
Is He King over my life at my workplace?
Our sinful nature resists peace.
Here are some verses on peace that give us insight as how to have it in our homes:
Proverbs 17:1
Better a dry crust with peace and quiet
than a house full of feasting, with strife.
NIV
When there is strife ( some definitions: controversy, complain, debate) there will not be peace.
When the proper authority in a home is not in place, it is a home in chaos and discord…no peace.
Ephesians 5:22-24
22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
NIV
Submission is a place of peace for a woman if she does it as unto the Lord.
You can still make decisions together, it is not a dictatorship.
But we as women can get into a pattern of mothering our husbands. We treat them like one of the kids.
Most of the time, we don’t even realize we are doing it.
Sometimes our husbands just fall right into place and act like one of the kids.
It is a dangerous path for a marriage to take.
Proverbs 29:17
17 Discipline your son, and he will give you peace;
he will bring delight to your soul.
NIV
A lack of peace in your home could be a lack of discipline or disciple-ing your children.
A lack of proper authority. When the kids are in authority, there is no peace.
Isaiah 26:3
3 You will keep in perfect peace
him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.
NIV
Is my mind and thought life under the authority of Christ?
Isaiah 48:22
22 "There is no peace," says the LORD, "for the wicked."
NIV
Peace is reserved for the Godly- let’s enjoy it!

Hello, Sue!
This is so true! Right about the time I think I'm doing a good job in this area, I get lazy and suddenly realize that I've said or done something that is disrespectful of my husband as the head of our house. This is something it's always good to be reminded of. When I show him the respect he deserves based on his position vs. my feelings at the moment the entire atmosphere of our home reflects that peace.
Thanks for the note this morning; you have a very nice blog. :)
Sue, just "got here" :) Wonderful to have two blogs to talk to.
Hi Sue,
Thanks for visiting me so I could get to know you here. What an interesting life you lead - I´m sure you have lots of stories to tell!
Thanks for sharing this today - lots of craziness going on at our house, and I need to go back to the basics - AGAIN! I needed the reminder!
Excellent

I so needed that right now!
Thank you, Sue.
This spoke to my heart today and was exactly what I needed to refocus our crazy morning. Thank you!
Im glad I stumbled over here..just the right words
Mothering our husbands----by nature I mother a lot so I have had problems with this.
God is teaching me to keep my mouth shut and let the Holy Spirit by the Holy Spirit.
It has taken much nudging and molding by the Lord to get me in the Spirit of submission. I was raised to be a very INDEPENDENT WOMEN. It was in-grained in me as a child. However, it REALLY is the key to Peace. I did NOT have that peace until I did and when I find myself TAKING OVER the peace is sucked out the window. Thank you for the reminder.
Sue, that was awesome! Great insight - and you have such a great way of presenting the Word in a very simple way! Thanks!
Thank you so much for this beautiful post! I am going to print out these verses and put them to memory!! I heard Beth Moore speak about the authority of Peace last week on her website, and I needed the reminder!
I am new to this Blogspace...I have been finding so many friends through this. Thank you for sharing such a timely word. I especially liked Peace is always associated with authority.
Excellent teaching Sue. You are so right. Having the Lord reign as ruler over our lives certainly does bring peace!!
Wow, what a great post. You're so right...having peace means submitting to God's authority in our lives. I needed to be reminded of that tonight. Thanks so much for posting.
that was an awesome post...
and one i so needed to read...
i went back to work... nights and weekends... my husband has all 6 kids at night...
there has not been peace...
i thought this job was from God because this employer called me and offered me the job...
now I see that it may be the devil pretending to be an angel of light...
another test...another chance...
goodbye job...
holy chaos,
I hope things get better and there is peace in your home again soon!
Sue

PEACE OF CHRIST
About 3 years ago I dropped into a black hole – four months of absolute terror. I wanted to end my life, but somehow [Holy Spirit], I reached out to a friend who took me to hospital. I had three visits [hospital] in four months – I actually thought I was in hell. I imagine I was going through some sort of metamorphosis [mental, physical & spiritual]. I had been seeing a therapist [1994] on a regular basis, up until this point in time. I actually thought I would be locked away – but the hospital staff was very supportive [I had no control over my process]. I was released from hospital 16th September 1994, but my fear, pain & shame had only subsided a little. I remember this particular morning waking up [home] & my process would start up again [fear, pain, & shame]. No one could help me, not even my therapist [I was terrified]. I asked Jesus Christ to have mercy on me & forgive me my sins. Slowly, all my fear has dissipated & I believe Jesus delivered me from my “psychological prison.” I am a practicing Catholic & the Holy Spirit is my friend & strength; every day since then has been a joy & blessing. I deserve to go to hell for the life I have led, but Jesus through His sacrifice on the cross, delivered me from my inequities. John 3: 8, John 15: 26, are verses I can relate to, organically. He’s a real person who is with me all the time. I have so much joy & peace in my life, today, after a childhood spent in orphanages [England & Australia]. God LOVES me so much. Fear, pain, & shame, are no longer my constant companions. I just wanted to share my experience with you [Luke 8: 16 – 17].
Peace Be With You
Micky
