If Momma Ain't Happy...

Ain't nobody happy!

Photobucket

Unfortunately, there is an ugly amount of truth in that isn't there??

Have you ever just suddenly heard the tone of your voice and realize that you might be speaking a little below the line of "sweet"?

Yeh, me too.

Why is it that we act the worst around the ones we love the most?
Sometimes I think that I should have my family stand in front of a mirror when I speak to them so I can see myself and the reality of what they have to deal with!

Unless you are one of these people that has the hallelujah chorus following you around, you know what I'm talking about.

Moods, they not just for breakfast anymore.

If we let them get the best of us, it can be a real downward spiral. One minute we're laughing with our girlfriend on the phone, then crying at the story of the mom on TV who finally got pregnant after 10 years, then yelling at the kids to hush up while we watch the program~bless the Lord.

This week's message is nothing too deep, just a reminder to pay attention to how we speak to the ones we love.

Is it gentle or harsh?
Would they know how much we love them by the way we speak to them?
Have we been too short with them?

Here is a good barometer for us, not only as Christian's but also as wives and mothers:

Ephesians 4:29-32
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
NIV

Now that's a verse that will preach, amen?!

Don't get mad at me, my toes are bloody too!

Thanks for that word dear one, oh how we need to heed the Word. I'm guilty as charged. I often pray, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight oh Lord..." How often I fall short. It's not only what we say, but how we say it.

BTW - I'm having a book giveaway contest for a signed copy of my new devotional book, A Cup of Comfort Women of the Bible. Please feel free to stop on by and pass the word. The winner will be announced on Mother's Day.

Thanks and God bless.

Oh Sue... I promise God has brought you in to my life for just this reason. Another wonderful outlet to speak to me with his 2x4 sometimes. :) God works in wonderful mysterious ways. This seriously is something I was talking to my husband about regarding me and my 6 yr old not 12 hours ago!! I needed and wanted to hear this reminder. I went to bed last night praying for guidance. It's not that she is doing anything wrong as I am just living with a short fuse these days. Could be that I am 28 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and life changing decisions we are going through... possibly buying our first home... etc. Either way it is something that I am not happy with myself and feel dirty after a confrontation with her. I want to cry afterward looking into her sad eyes and wondering why did I do that in the first place??

I am praising and thank God big time this morning for laying this on your heart to share!! Thank you for listening to him and your honesty. I needed it! :) Have a blessed Tuesday Sue!! :)

oh so true. i also have a different perception on this. if daddy ain't happy .... the man also dictates the mood of the home. and what are we as wives doing to be the helpers we are called to be ...!

great post as usual. i loved popping in on you today!

hugs!

Hi Sue
Thanks for the reminder and encouragement. I am feeling a little tired and this was a good
reminder of how my attitude and word can have impact on the ones I love so much - Talk to you soon Jaime

This is a fantastic reminder. I remind my kids of it often - to treat their brothers and sisters as well as they treat their friends - but I definitely need to remind myself of that as well...
