Pure and simple, that is the bottom line for me. It trumps all issues, because it is at the core of what you believe is important in this life. I will not vote for someone JUST because they are pro-life...but I definitely will not vote for someone who is against life.
The value a person places on life... is the value they place on me.

Joan, I agree. I am very informed about all the issues, but what first affects my vote is life.
I agree...this should be the first issue we look at, for all of our government officials. If they do not acknowlege and respect the sanctity of life, then how can I trust them to make decisions for me?

It's funny that I keep hearing that when it comes down to it people vote one way or the other because of their economic opinion.
My husband and I have had this conversation time and time again and even Fox news is reporting this belief.
Have they asked women? I do believe that men will tend to lean toward the economic opinion as priority while many, many women are and most likely have lent toward this very issue, life; pro or choice. And despite what my husband and Fox may think ~ many of us ARE voting from that priority.
I know a few women who are voting strictly because ~ NO ONE is going to tell them what they can do with thier own bodies! OR That Sarah Palin is an insult the all women! These have NOT A THING to do with the economy.

I would like to add that it is so important to stand up for life after November 4th. In the last 8 years, under a prolife president, how many abortions do you think were prevented? Unfortunately, ProLife is a platform that is often used to secure the votes of Christians and nothing more.
There are women in our country who feel they have NO OTHER option but to abort their babies. As their fellow citizens and followers of Christ, is our job to give of our resources (time, money, relationships, gifts) to create REAL options for these women.
We can be sure that no matter who is elected president, babies without voices and the mothers carrying them need us.
It doesn't start with the President, it starts with the citizens.

I agree Erin, we need to keep our pro-life stand and heart always even and especially after the election. We need to make sure we are living out our pro-life stand by helping women and babies.
George Bush put 2 men in the Supreme Court that are pro-life judges, and they are the ones that can really make a difference. That was one of the greatest things he did as president. I pray that it will affect the lives of women and babies in the future.
The next president will choose 2 possibly 3 new positions which will turn the tide one way or the other in Roe V. Wade.
It is imperative that our president is pro-life.
This seems to be a very big issue this election season also....the judges. The are many folks that want Obama simply becuase of his likelihood of appointing judges for pro-choice.
This seems to be the unspoken priority for much more folks than anyone is willing to give a voice too. Pro-lifers are reluctant to speak because of fear of persecution (in many forms) and Pro-choicers seem to be reluctant to inadvertantly giving Pro-lifers the opportunity to speak out against it. (Keep it hush hush and bring it through the back door.)

A friend and I were talking this week about the election and she said that in either an interview or a debate (I can't remember) with Obama and McCain, they were asked if, when selecting supreme court judges, they would take into consideration their nominee's stance on prolife/prochoice, both answered "No".
I'll have to ask her where she saw that. Do you have any idea?

...Abortion-rights groups are trying to demonstrate that while McCain may be a moderate on many issues, reproductive health is not one of them. Nancy Keenan is president of the group NARAL Pro-Choice America.
"On the issue of reproductive choice, he's neither a moderate nor a maverick — he's wrong," Keenan said. "And I think we will work very hard to make sure people in this country understand how extreme he is on this issue."
McCain's abortion position is not something he's tried to keep secret. He has publicly said that he does not support Roe v. Wade and that it should be overturned. If he's elected president, McCain has said he'll choose Supreme Court justices like those who have already cast votes to restrict abortion rights. "I will look for people in the cast of John Roberts, Samuel Alito, and my friend, the late William Rehnquist — jurists of the highest caliber," he has said.
Even so, McCain is still seen as suspect by many Christian evangelical voters. He supports embryonic stem cell research, for example, which makes him less than 100 percent pro-life.
But he does have the unequivocal support of the biggest anti-abortion group, the National Right to Life Committee.
"He has a strong pro-life record against abortion," said David O'Steen, the group's executive director. "He opposes using taxpayer funds to pay for abortion. He supports parental notification."
