He IS the Light of the World

It’s Christmas time!

Not that we need an excuse, but what a great opportunity to talk about our Savior!
He is, after all…LIFE!

There has never been, nor will there ever be, one like Him.
Let’s take every opportunity we can get to bring Him honor this season.

He’s the Light of the world!

John 1:6-9
6 There came a man who was sent from God;
his name was John.
7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light,
so that through him all men might believe.
8 He himself was not the light;
he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to every man
was coming into the world.
NIV

John 8:12
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said,
"I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life."

NIV

John 12:46
I have come into the world as a light,
so that no one
who believes in me

should stay in darkness.
NIV

I don't know about you, but that just makes my heart leap!
I have experienced some darkness in my life and I can't imagine where I would be without the Lord shedding His light into my life.

We have so many reasons to rejoice this season!
Don't let the crazy/busy-ness and all the hoopla, steal the Wonder of what it's really all about!

Wise words Sue. As Christmas gets more commercial, it's all too easy to become like Scrooge and say "baa, humbug". But Christmas isn't about the gifts, the food, the parties etc (although they can be nice), its remembering Jesus coming to earth to live life as one of us and yet still being God. That's a mystery that I still cant fathom but that I am eternally grateful for.

I was just reading this morning in Matthew 5 about being the salt and light of the earth.
Salt and Light
13"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
14"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

I so enjoying reading all your blogs but sometimes dont have the opportunity to comment back. Me and Chuck were just taking Sunday about how much we miss you guys!!!

Love ya all

I just picked up a Christmas card about "light" for my parents, not a Christian card, but it fit so well. They have been a shining example of Jesus' love through the years.

P.S. Love your Christmas look :) Very pretty.

Hey, Sue. I have a question about your header. How did you get the writing to be like that? I can't figure out how to get it to be anything but printing...and I think yours looks so pretty.

You can email me @ bgbcsmith@juno.com

THANKS!

Thanks for the reminder to not get caught up in all the busyness! Jesus is the light, and hopefully when we see all the beautiful Christmas lights we'll immediately think of HIM!

thank you so much sue for your comforting comment to me just now...it does bring me His comfort to know someone has been there before and i am going to make it through this by the grace of God...losing my church family of 27 years has been hard to say the least, but what God has done in my life, I would never go back...so thanks for understanding between the lines and for your comfort, your compassion, your care for many...you are a precious lady!
